Role description
Data Analyst, Ecosystem Strategic Finance
Remote
6-months, extension TBD
$50hr - $58.05/hr on W2
Role Overview & Core Responsibilities + Collaboration & Stakeholder Exposure
• Role: Ecosystem Strategic Finance Data Analyst (6-month contract, remote, potential extension; 1 opening)
• Core Focus: Execute legal/regulatory data requests end-to-end (interpret request, define scope/deadlines, query via SQL, validate results, deliver outputs + source queries)
• Secondary Work: Support consumer analytics through ad hoc analysis, business reviews, and metric reporting during lower legal request volume
• Team Context: Small, horizontal Strategic Finance team within consumer analytics, focused on long-term, cross-product insights (vs. recurring forecasting)
• Key Stakeholders:
o Legal (primary request intake, non-technical)
o Strategic Finance (analysis ownership)
o Data Science (validation, technical alignment)
• Work Nature: Highly ad hoc, ambiguity-heavy, requires independent execution and managing multiple concurrent requests
Skills & Capabilities (Technical + Soft Skills Combined)
• Core Technical Requirements:
o Strong SQL expertise (must-have); ability to write/validate complex queries across large datasets
o Proficient in Excel / Google Sheets for analysis and reporting
• Nice-to-Have / Signal Strength:
o Experience with big data tools (e.g., Hadoop, Hive) and/or Tableau-like tools (team uses internal equivalents)
o Exposure to automation / AI tools (valued but not required; must not rely on them for core work)
• Critical Soft Skills (heavily weighted):
o Accountability & ownership (especially given legal/regulatory sensitivity)
o Attention to detail & accuracy (high-stakes outputs)
o Clear communication across technical + non-technical stakeholders
o Strong organization & prioritization (handling multiple concurrent, deadline-driven requests)
o Ability to operate independently in ambiguous environments
Background, Experience & Education
• Education: BS in a quantitative discipline (required)
• Experience:
o 2+ years in data-focused roles (analytics, reporting, operations, or data process execution)
o Experience working with large-scale datasets (billions of rows preferred)
• Preferred Backgrounds:
o Data Analyst, Analytics, Strategy & Operations candidates with strong SQL
o Experience supporting legal, compliance, or audit teams is a plus
• Flexibility: No strict industry requirement; focus is on transferable analytical capability
