Role description
Data Analyst – Business and Systems Analytics (Contract) • Candidate Location Requirements: 100% remote • If hybrid, # of days contractor required onsite: NA • Daily Schedule & OT Estimate: Monday – Friday, 40 hours, NO overtime • Chance for Extension: Yes Role Overview We are seeking an experienced Data Analyst to support metrics and reporting for Microsoft Digital Global Support. This team is part of the global support organization that provides end-user IT services to internal employees and helps operate the help desk. The role will contribute to ensuring data quality for dashboards and reports that help business and service delivery teams make data-driven decisions. The centralized reporting platform, Digital Nervous System (DNS), is based on Microsoft Fabric and leverages its capabilities to collect, store, analyze, develop, and visualize data from ServiceNow and other enterprise sources to track operational performance and drive continuous improvement. The team is also planning to leverage AI/ML to aid in service improvement decisions. Typical Day in the Role The team provides end-user IT services and support for internal employees and operates the help desk. This role focuses on supporting data quality, analytics, and reporting that enable teams to monitor operational performance and improve service delivery. Key Responsibilities • Maintain and update documentation for the Digital Nervous System (DNS) reporting platform • Design, build, and enhance reports and dashboards using single or multiple data sources • Create solutions to collect, store, and visualize data from new sources • Build AI/ML solutions using Microsoft Azure and Microsoft Fabric to identify patterns, trends, and anomalies for problem management • Perform data validation, testing, and user acceptance testing (UAT) to ensure data accuracy and consistency • Improve dashboard usability and interactivity based on end user feedback • Deliver recurring training sessions to help stakeholders understand and consume DNS metrics • Collaborate with stakeholders to support new reporting solutions and enhancements Candidate Requirements Ideal Candidate Profile The ideal candidate should have: • Strong attention to detail and commitment to data quality • Solid interpersonal and communication skills • Strong willingness to learn and adapt Required Skills 5+ years of experience in the following skills (in order of importance): 1. Hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric and Microsoft Azure data services 1. Experience using Azure Machine Learning for creating no-code/low-code solutions 1. Strong experience with Microsoft Power BI, including data visualization, modeling, and DAX 1. Working knowledge of SQL and Kusto Query Language (KQL) 1. Experience in data analytics or reporting roles 1. Experience with Power Apps and Microsoft 365 applications (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word) 1. Ability to quickly understand data models and structures from enterprise applications 1. Experience conducting UAT for reports, dashboards, and metrics 1. Strong communication skills with the ability to explain metrics and data concepts to end users Additional experience preferred: • Hands-on experience with ServiceNow backend data and ITSM modules Education & Certifications (Preferred) • Degree in Computer Science, Data Analytics, or a related field • Microsoft certifications such as: • Azure Data Fundamentals • Power BI Data Analyst Associate • Azure AI Fundamentals Performance Measurement Contractor performance will be measured based on deliverables. Work Environment Remote work allowed. Work hours may be flexible to accommodate time zone differences (+/- 2–3 hours).
