Role description
Data Analyst
Location: Remote (US) | Type: Contract | Experience: 3 to 5+ years | Pay: $75-$90/hr
About the Role
We're hiring a Data Analyst to turn messy, multi-source data into things people can actually act on: clean datasets, reliable dashboards, and reports that tell executives what's happening and what's likely next. You'll own the full arc of the work, from pulling and scrubbing raw data to modeling it, finding the patterns that matter, and presenting findings to people who don't live in the data the way you do.
The client is a cloud-first managed services and consulting firm, an AWS Premier partner that builds and runs cloud environments for public sector and commercial organizations. The data here is real and often imperfect, the questions are open-ended, and you'll have room to decide how best to answer them.
This role is for someone who's comfortable with ambiguity and needs minimal hand-holding. If you like being handed a vague problem and a pile of data and figuring out the rest yourself, you'll fit well.
What You'll Do
• Gather data from primary and secondary sources, including surveys, application tracking, and open datasets, then organize it into something usable
• Clean and filter raw data, catching duplicates, errors, and outliers before they skew the analysis
• Design and maintain databases and data systems, fixing coding errors and resolving database issues as they come up
• Apply statistical techniques to interpret datasets, with an eye on the trends and patterns that feed diagnostic and predictive work
• Build dashboards, reports, and visualizations that communicate findings clearly, including executive-level summaries of trends and predictions
• Write documentation thorough enough that a stakeholder could follow your process and reproduce the analysis
• Work with developers, engineers, architects, and organizational leaders to spot process improvements, recommend system changes, and shape data governance policy
Qualifications
• 3 to 5+ years as a Data Analyst or in a similar role, ideally within professional services or a consulting firm
• Bachelor's or Master's in a relevant field such as Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or Mathematics
• Strong programming in Python or R, plus solid SQL and database management experience
• Working knowledge of data warehousing concepts and data integration techniques
• Hands-on with at least one BI tool: Tableau, Power BI, or Qlik
• Clear communicator who can explain complex findings to non-technical stakeholders, both in writing and in presentations
• AWS experience, with the AWS Cloud Practitioner certification required
• Comfortable working independently in a high-ambiguity environment with minimal direction
Nice to Have
• AWS Certified Data Analytics Specialty
Why Join Us
You'll sit with a team that runs production cloud environments for organizations that can't afford to get it wrong, which means the analysis you do actually informs decisions rather than sitting in a deck nobody opens. The work is varied, the autonomy is real, and the cloud-native environment gives you room to grow your AWS depth alongside your analytics.
If you want analyst work where you own the question end to end and the answers carry weight, this is a good one to take.
