Role description
DataStaff, Inc is seeking a Data Analyst for a short-term contract opportunity with one of our direct clients located in Richmond, VA. β€’ This is a short-term, remote position. Job Description: This engagement focuses on converting the BugTrack issue management Excel extract into a comprehensive, interactive Power BI dashboard for leadership visibility and operational decision-making. The consultant will collaborate with the business, HIT, IT, and operational teams to define reporting requirements and translate them into a scalable data model and intuitive visualizations. Metrics will include (but are not limited to) total tickets opened/closed, aging of open tickets, ticket type and category distribution, priority trends, facility-level insights, EPMO-related tickets, and a dedicated AVATAR ticket dashboard (opened, closed, maintenance). The consultant will build automated refresh processes, apply data quality checks, and deliver a polished dashboard ready for leadership review. The resource may also be engaged in other Power BI work related to clients as it arises, if time is needed. Responsibilities: β€’ Conduct requirements workshops with the business, HIT, IT, and operational stakeholders β€’ Review and validate the BugTrack Excel extract structure β€’ Build a Power BI data model optimized for large datasets β€’ Develop visualizations for ticket volume, aging, type, category, priority, facility, and AVATAR metrics β€’ Create filters, drill-downs, and role-based views β€’ Establish refresh logic and data-quality validation steps β€’ Iterate with stakeholders to refine usability and accuracy β€’ Mentor and train clients’ identified SMEs for long-term maintenance β€’ Create and develop documentation supporting the dashboards Deliverables: β€’ Requirements document and dashboard mockups β€’ Power BI data model and transformation scripts β€’ Fully developed BugTrack dashboard with leadership-ready visuals β€’ Documentation for refresh processes and data definitions β€’ Knowledge-transfer session with internal staff Milestones Week 1-3: Requirements gathering & data review Week 4-8: Data modeling & initial dashboard build Week 9-10: Stakeholder review & refinement Week 11-12: Final dashboard delivery & documentation Required Skills: β€’ Power BI & Data Modeling Expertise β€’ Analytics & Data Interpretation β€’ Stakeholder Engagement & Requirements Gathering β€’ Technical & Tooling Skills β€’ Training & Knowledge Transfer β€’ Project & Delivery Skills Desired Skills: β€’ Experience with EHR systems (Cerner/Oracle Millennium, AVATAR) β€’ Background in operational reporting β€’ IT service management analytics This opportunity is available on a corp-to-corp basis or as a W2 position with a competitive benefits package.
