Role description
Job Title: Data Analyst / Test Validation Analyst
Location: Remote (Minnesota-based candidates only)
Duration: 3-Month Contract
Pay Rate: $48–$52/hour on W2
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Data Analyst / Test Validation Analyst to support financial data validation, reconciliation, and testing activities across multiple systems and projects. This role is ideal for candidates with strong analytical skills, advanced Excel expertise, and experience working with investment, portfolio, benchmark, or financial performance data in fast-paced environments.
Key Responsibilities
• Perform detailed data validation and reconciliation across development, testing, and production environments
• Analyze and compare portfolio, benchmark, and index-related datasets to ensure accuracy and consistency
• Identify and investigate discrepancies involving returns, fees, benchmark assignments, asset mappings, and historical data
• Utilize advanced Excel functions for large dataset analysis, file comparisons, reconciliation, and reporting
• Support system upgrades, data migrations, and platform transition projects through testing and validation activities
• Review and validate data extracts, feeds, and reporting files from internal and external sources
• Develop and execute test cases and validation scenarios tied to project initiatives
• Collaborate with business stakeholders, technology teams, and vendors to resolve data issues and confirm requirements
• Maintain organized documentation related to testing results, reconciliation findings, and project deliverables
• Manage multiple concurrent projects while meeting deadlines and maintaining high levels of accuracy
Required Qualifications
• 5+ years of experience in data analysis, reconciliation, testing, or financial operations environments
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including pivot tables, lookups, complex formulas, file comparisons, and large dataset analysis
• Strong experience working with financial, investment, portfolio, benchmark, or index-related data
• Experience with data validation, quality assurance, reconciliation, and testing methodologies
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in fast-paced project environments
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience supporting system migrations, vendor transitions, or platform upgrades
• Familiarity with investment performance reporting, benchmarks, asset class structures, or index data
• Experience collaborating with external vendors and technology teams
• Exposure to SQL, SSRS, T-SQL, or reporting environments is a plus
