Job Title : Data Analyst, Level 1 Duration : 2 Years Work Location : Fort Lesley J. McNair, NDU Academic Affairs located in Washington, D.C. Work hours: Monday through Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm (40 hours/week) Core Responsibilities β€’ Provides data support under supervision including data entry, creation of bulk upload templates, data cleaning and quality review, and creation of ad hoc reports β€’ Executes assigned data quality checks and reporting tasks β€’ Works under general supervision of Senior Business Analyst or Program Manager β€’ Primary job functions do not typically require exercising independent judgment General Duties: β€’ Assist Senior Business Analyst in executing repeatable methods for checking the quality of NDU Connect program, course, student, enrollment, and awards data. The purpose of the data quality checks (DQC) is to identify errors and/or missing data and the DQCs shall be performed on a weekly basis. β€’ Support documentation of DQC methods under supervision. Documentation shall include the instructions and purpose of each DQC, as well as any queries, report templates, or other applications devised by the contractor. β€’ Report any missing or inaccurate data within one (1) day of identifying such errors. β€’ Support academic reporting functions by reviewing NDU Connect-generated reports to ensure that they are characterized by complete, accurate, and concise presentation; that they comply with mandated formatting requirements of the Joint Staff and the Middle States Commission on Higher Education; and that they are represented as Power BI data visualizations and dashboards. β€’ Review record-level and summary reports to support NDU requirements for two (2) annual reports to external agencies that present demographic, enrollment, and awards statistics. β€’ Produce program- and term-based record-level and summary reports and dashboards to support the Academic Affairs team and NDU leadership. β€’ Respond to ad hoc requests for reports, which may require NDU Connect data from a single academic term or year or may be longitudinal. There will be up to 24 ad hoc reports per calendar year. β€’ Attend weekly team meetings, to collaborate and provide recommendations for improving data management processes and reporting. β€’ Perform NDU Connect data entry and data management tasks. β€’ Assist with NDU Connect data uploads. β€’ Periodically validate and update the Student Prospect Creation Template to include the correct lookup values. β€’ Periodically populate the Course Offering Template. β€’ Populate other upload templates on an ad hoc basis. β€’ Develop and maintain Power BI dashboards reflecting standard and ad hoc reports. These dashboards shall contain filters or slicers for displaying data about specific colleges, programs, and student categories. Minimum Qualifications β€’ High school diploma, bachelor's degree preferred. β€’ Must have at least 2-3 years of experience in the field of data analysis or in a related area. β€’ Must have knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures for data analysis and quality control. β€’ Proficiency in MS Office (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint). β€’ Strong proficiency in Power BI for dashboard creation and maintenance. β€’ The ability to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment. β€’ Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. β€’ Ability to switch gears at a moment's notice and to react with appropriate levels of urgency to situations and events that require quick response or turnaround. β€’ Strong organizational skills that reflect the ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks seamlessly with excellent attention to detail. β€’ Excellent judgment is essential. β€’ Must be able to obtain a CAC card for base access. β€’ Must comply with NDU facility security requirements. β€’ Reports to Senior Business Analyst or Program Manager. Preferred Qualifications β€’ Experience with academic data and higher education institutions, particularly graduate programs β€’ Experience with Student Information Systems (Salesforce, Banner, Anthology) β€’ Experience with Learning Management Systems (Blackboard, Canvas) β€’ Experience with survey/evaluation tools (Qualtrics or similar) β€’ Experience combining datasets from multiple disparate systems β€’ Military Professional Education (JPME) experience a plus β€’ Previous NDU experience a plus β€’ Strong data quality control experience - ability to identify data anomalies and not accept data at face value.
