Role description
Overview
We are seeking a Data Analyst with a strong Accounting/Finance background to join our team. This role serves as a key partner to our Accounting department and Controller, providing data-driven insights and rapid analytical support for audits, reporting, and operational decision-making. The ideal candidate combines strong technical skills in SQL and Power BI with a solid understanding of financial principles and exceptional interpersonal abilities.
Education & Certification Requirements
A bachelor’s degree is required, with a background in Accounting or Finance preferred, as the position involves extensive support for our accounting team.
Onsite Requirements
This role is hybrid, requiring onsite presence at least two days per week in our Portland, Oregon office, preferably Tuesday and Thursday when the Controller is in the office.
Responsibilities
• Perform detailed data analysis to identify patterns, anomalies, and trends across multiple data sources.
• Develop and execute moderately complex SQL queries to extract, manipulate, and validate data for audit and finance requests.
• Provide rapid-response data support for high-priority audit and business inquiries.
• Collaborate closely with the Controller and Finance Leadership, maintaining professionalism and clear communication when working independently.
• Build and enhance Power BI models and dashboards to support reporting and business insights.
• Operate effectively in a dynamic, relationship-focused environment with limited structure, demonstrating initiative and adaptability.
• Support audit requests by gathering and analyzing data efficiently and accurately.
• Work independently and learn on the fly, handling ambiguous environments with initiative.
Qualifications
• At least 5 years of experience as a Data Analyst or in a similar role.
• Proficiency in developing SQL queries of moderate complexity.
• Experience developing Power BI models and dashboards.
• Ability to work onsite at least two days per week, preferably Tuesday and Thursday, in Portland, Oregon.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently and support audit processes.
• Background in Accounting or Finance.
• Ability to operate in a limited structure environment, demonstrating initiative and adaptability.
Desired Skills
• Experience in POS, Distribution, or B2B industries.
• Exposure to Microsoft Power Platform.
• Ability to quickly learn new data tools and techniques.
• Familiarity with working in relationship-focused, customer service-oriented environments.
