Role description
A major UK grocery retailer is establishing a new function within its data and analytics division. This initiative will focus on the convenience store segment, led by the Chief Supply Chain Officer. The team has approval to build from the ground up, seeking skilled data analysts and an experienced manager to lead the effort.
Responsibilities
β’ Analyse data related to space, range, display and localisation to optimise product assortments for commercial growth
β’ Conduct geo-spatial and product range analysis, including pricing and promotional effectiveness
β’ Deliver statistical analysis and measurement frameworks (e.g., A/B testing, trial evaluation)
β’ Build reporting dashboards using Power BI and Power Automate to support decision-making
β’ Improve data quality and automate reporting processes using curated data marts
β’ Translate stakeholder requirements into actionable insights
β’ Manager role: Lead and mentor a team of 2-5 analysts, ensuring high-quality delivery and promoting best practices
Requirements:
β’ 2-6 years' experience in analytical or consulting roles within commercial environments (depending on level)
β’ Comfortable working cross-functionally to source and interpret data
β’ Industry experience in retail, ideally within merchandising
β’ Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
β’ Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
β’ Essential technical skills: SQL, Power BI, Power Automate
β’ Preferred experience: A/B testing, Python, Databricks (especially for manager role), ETL/ELT pipelines, data modelling (marts, dimensional models), Git/version control
β’ Experience in pricing analytics and Mastercard Test & Learn platform is a bonus

β’ Duration: Approximately 3 months, with potential for permanent placement
β’ Day rate: Analyst level: Up to Β£250 PAYE // Manager level: Up to Β£300 PAYE
