Job Summary:
Data Analytics Developer role supporting one of the bank’s central analytics teams, responsible for building backend-heavy data solutions including ETL pipelines, analytical data models, and business-facing dashboards. This position focuses on translating business needs into working technical prototypes, designing databases and data flows, and delivering scalable analytics solutions used across multiple stakeholder groups. The role is based primarily in Jersey City, NJ (One Pershing Plaza) with 4+ days onsite and standard hours of 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM EST.
Key Responsibilities:
• Data Engineering & ETL Development: Design, build, and maintain Python/ML-based ETL pipelines to source, transform, and process data at defined intervals; support both new development (80%) and legacy systems (20%).
• Database & Backend Development: Design and optimize SQL data structures, schemas, and queries; improve performance and reduce data bottlenecks across analytics platforms.
• Analytics & Prototyping: Convert ambiguous or evolving business requirements into technical prototypes and production-ready analytics solutions; define how data is sourced, processed, and modeled.
• Dashboarding & BI Enablement: Support development of Power BI dashboards and reporting layers to illustrate business insights (visualization skills helpful but not the primary focus of the role).
• Stakeholder Partnership: Work closely with business partners and managers to define data needs, validate sources, establish data ownership, and document assumptions and lineage.
• KPI & Measurement Support: Contribute to defining metrics and analytical frameworks; conduct studies to provide data-backed insights for application and platform decisions.
• API & Integration: Design and consume REST APIs to integrate analytics solutions with upstream and downstream systems.
• Delivery & Agile Execution: Manage multiple concurrent projects from a shared backlog (60–70+ items), prioritize work in coordination with leadership, and deliver through Agile SDLC practices (sprints, releases, code reviews).
• Collaboration & Team Enablement: Provide technical guidance and coaching to teammates, review work, and help drive solutions to completion in a fast-moving delivery environment.
Qualifications:
• 6–10+ years of experience in software development, data engineering, or analytics development roles
• Strong hands-on experience with Python (including ML-enabled workflows) for ETL and analytics
• Advanced SQL development experience (querying, optimization, schema design)
• Experience building and consuming REST APIs
• Experience with source control using GIT and modern branching strategies
• Experience working within Agile software development life cycles and formal SDLC methodologies
• Proven ability to prototype technical solutions from incomplete or loosely defined business requirements
• Experience conducting analytical studies to support data-driven decision making
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline
Preferred Experience:
• Power BI dashboard development
• Experience using AI coding tools to improve developer productivity
• Experience developing AI agents
• Background in securities or broader financial services
• Experience supporting large-scale enterprise analytics platforms
