Role description
Colorado has a thriving data science and data analytics sector, which drives industries ranging from national security to healthcare. Our first data-focused faculty member will grow courses and academic pathways to prepare students for dynamic careers in a rapidly evolving data informed field. The Data/AI faculty will bring relevant industry or academic research experience into the classroom setting. The ideal faculty member will have expertise working with a range of data sets (unprocessed to processed and small to big) and will support the development of new programs in data science and artificial intelligence (AI) to meet the workforce demands of Colorado’s data, space and advanced technology industries. In the first year, this faculty member will focus primarily on curriculum development and designing innovative, industry-aligned curriculum and pathways. The role emphasizes the business application of AI, data science, and analytics, ensuring that students gain skills directly relevant to workforce needs. The successful candidate will help establish new academic pathways, such as an AI Fundamentals Certificate and micro credentials, while supporting ACC’s culture of innovation, excellence, and rigor. This position directly advances the College’s mission of producing the workforce of the future, and will require close collaboration with faculty, administrators, and external partners to align curriculum with industry demand and emerging technologies. The Data Analytics/Science & Artificial Intelligence Faculty position is a full-time, 9-month faculty position in the Computing Technologies Department. ACC Faculty teach 15 credits each fall and spring semester. Faculty may have the option to teach courses during the summer semester for additional compensation. Courses may be taught using both traditional and non-traditional delivery methods, including face-to-face, online, computer-aided, distance learning, self-paced, and interdisciplinary. Faculty may need to teach at any ACC campus and at a variety of times (days, evenings, and some weekends). Candidates with a foundational understanding of these skills and knowledge or a demonstrated growth mindset on these topics are strongly encouraged to apply. • Master’s degree in business intelligence analytics, computer information systems, computer science, data analytics, data science or related field OR; Master’s degree in any field plus 18 credit hours (undergraduate or graduate) in business intelligence analytics, computer information systems, computer science, data analytics, data science or related field, OR; Bachelor’s degree in any field with 2 years’ experience in business intelligence, information science, data analytics or related work environment, OR; equivalent experience as designated in the ACC Faculty / Instructor Qualifications Manual. • Must be eligible for a CTE credential to teach in the discipline. • Experience teaching and/or training in various subjects within the discipline. • Demonstrated commitment working with and supporting students from diverse populations, which may include but are not limited to, historically marginalized populations such as people of color, LGBTQ+ community members, veterans, first generation graduates, and people with disabilities. • Demonstrate a growth mindset regarding professional development. • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. Preferred Qualifications • Experience in facilitating equitable outcomes for customers, key stakeholders, or students using effective inclusive strategies. • Demonstrate building successful professional relationships and working collaboratively with internal and external constituents and outside agencies. • Participate and/or lead in professional organizations, committees and/or taskforces. • Experience with remote and/or online teaching/training and experience developing courses for multiple delivery formats. • Ability to develop well-defined assessment/evaluation objectives and high-performance standards aligned with expectations. Salary Information The salary range for this position is $61,175 to $76,285, commensurate with education and experience. This salary is based on 166 contract days within an academic year (August to May) Salary will be pro-rated based on actual contract days worked. This is a full-time, 9-month, FLSA-exempt position. This position has been exempted from the State Classified System. AP 3-55 provides information regarding salary placement and adjustments.
