The Ash Group is hiring an experienced Snowflake Data Architect for our client (a trusted financial services and media company offering investing advice, stock research, and education to individual investors) based remotely in one of the approved US states below.
This is a strategic role requiring 7+ years of data architecture experience, with a focus on leading the evolution of a Snowflake cloud data warehouse environment. You will be responsible for setting architectural standards, driving major cost optimization efforts, and ensuring scalable analytics across the enterprise.
Role Details
β’ Compensation: Competitive pay rate of $70 per hour.
β’ Benefits: Medical, dental, vision, and direct primary care benefits. After six months of employment, enjoy a 4% matched 401(k) plan with immediate 100% vesting.
β’ Duration: 12-month contract (ongoing).
β’ Location: 100% Remote but must be located in one of the following states: CA, CO, FL, LA, MD, MA, NJ, NY, NC, OR, PA, SC, TN, TX, VA, WA DC, or WI.
What Youβll Be Doing
β’ Lead Snowflake platform architecture across U.S. and International instances, implementing and adhering to medallion-layer principles and scalable data modeling standards.
β’ Drive significant cost optimization efforts by performing query tuning, resource configuration, and architectural improvements (targeting 10% quarterly cost reduction).
β’ Define best practices for data structures, object naming, and compute utilization, while ensuring high efficiency (targeting >90% of data pipeline jobs completing within 10 minutes).
β’ Partner with Data Engineering to guide schema design and collaborate with the Platform Engineer on implementing Git-based version control and metadata standards.
β’ Represent the data warehouse in strategic projects, architecture reviews, and enterprise analytics initiatives, and mentor engineers on best practices.
What Weβre Looking For
β’ 7+ years in data engineering or architecture roles, including 3+ years of hands-on cloud data warehouse experience (Snowflake preferred).
β’ Expertise in data modeling and SQL performance tuning, with strong proficiency in SQL and a working knowledge of Python.
β’ Demonstrated experience with architectural principles like medallion architecture and implementing data model standardization.
β’ Proven ability to manage compute monitoring, cost control, and resource optimization in a large cloud environment.
β’ Familiarity with GitOps or CI/CD workflows and ETL processes and tools like Airflow.
