Data Architect

Akkodis is seeking a Data Architect for a Contract job with a client in Charlotte, NC/Plano, TX(Hybrid). Ideally looking for applicants with a solid background in the financial services industry. Rate Range: $63-68/hour; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors. We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer with strong expertise in data modeling, data architecture, and solution design to build and support data-intensive enterprise applications. This role requires a hands-on engineer who can design end-to-end data solutions, develop scalable pipelines, and define architecture for complex data flows across systems. The ideal candidate will work across data engineering, database design, and system architecture, translating business requirements into scalable and maintainable data platforms and backend solutions. Key Responsibilities Develop and maintain scalable data pipelines (ETL/ELT) for high-volume and complex datasets. Build and optimize database schemas, queries, and data models to support operational and analytical workloads. Define and implement data models (conceptual, logical, physical) and maintain data standards, relationships, and governance rules. Design system and solution architecture including data flows, integration patterns, and API/data interfaces. Work closely with backend and application teams to integrate data services with APIs and downstream systems. Optimize performance across pipelines and databases (indexing, partitioning, query tuning, execution analysis). Implement data quality checks, validation, lineage tracking, and monitoring mechanisms. Troubleshoot and resolve production issues related to data pipelines, integrations, and databases. Create architecture documentation including data flow diagrams, ER diagrams, and solution design artifacts. Collaborate with cross-functional teams in Agile environments and contribute to design discussions and code reviews. 6+ years of experience in data engineering and backend/data platform development. Strong experience in data modeling (ER modeling, normalization, dimensional modeling). Strong experience in data architecture and system design for scalable applications. Expertise in SQL and relational databases (PostgreSQL, SQL Server, MySQL or similar). Experience building and optimizing data pipelines and handling large datasets. Ability to design end-to-end data and system architectures from requirements to implementation. Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and performance optimization skills. Experience with version control systems (Git) and SDLC best practices.
