Role description
NHS Data Architect - £650.00 per day - 9 Months - West Sussex We are looking for an experienced Data Architect to lead the migration of an on-premise data warehouse to Microsoft Fabric, implementing a modern medallion lakehouse architecture for one of our NHS Customers. This is a transformative role that will involve ground-up redesign of the data platform, moving from current SQL Server/SSIS/SSAS infrastructure to a cloud-native solution that will significantly enhance analytics capabilities and support better patient outcomes. As a key member of the project team you will be working closely with Head of Data and AI and Enterprise Architect, as well the data engineering, data science, critical systems, infrastructure, and business intelligence teams, to support their data platform project. Key Responsibilities: • Lead the design and implementation of a medallion (bronze/silver/gold) lakehouse architecture in Microsoft Fabric. • Develop a comprehensive migration strategy from an existing SQL Server data warehouse to Microsoft Fabric. • Conduct extensive data modelling work to create fit-for-purpose analytical structures, advising on NHS best practice and adopting national data standards where appropriate. • Implement automated CI/CD pipelines and DevOps best practices utilising Github Enterprise. • Work closely with business intelligence analysts, clinicians, and operational teams to understand reporting requirements • Work with the Data Engineering team to upskill their capabilities in medallion architecture design, PySpark and CDC integrations. Essential Skills and Experience Required Microsoft Fabric & Azure Expertise • Proven experience implementing Microsoft Fabric solutions, particularly lakehouse architectures (Or other Lakehouse technologies such as databricks) • Strong understanding of medallion architecture principles and best practices • Experience with Fabric components: lakehouses, data warehouses, data pipelines, dataflows, notebooks • Proficiency in PySpark, SQL, and DAX for data transformation and modelling Knowledge of Delta Lake format and lakehouse optimization techniques.
