Role description
Data Architect
4-Month Contract
South West-Based (Hybrid)
Day rate: £650 pd Inside IR35
We're currently looking for an experienced Data Architect to join a leading organisation on an initial 4-month contract. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in shaping an evolving enterprise data platform, helping drive the transition towards a modern, governed data product architecture.
Working within a high-performing data function, you'll support a strategic client-focused programme by designing and delivering data products that enable meaningful reporting and insight. This role is suited to someone who enjoys combining architectural thinking with hands-on delivery, bringing structure, governance and best practice to complex data environments.
The Role
You'll work closely with business stakeholders to gather requirements, define data product strategy and design scalable data solutions that support key business initiatives. Rather than simply producing data models, you'll make informed architectural decisions around when to introduce new data products versus extending existing ones, ensuring consistency, governance and long-term maintainability across the data estate.
This is a hands-on architecture role where you'll be expected to operate confidently across conceptual, logical and physical data modelling while collaborating with engineering teams to bring designs to life.
Key Responsibilities
• Gather and interpret business requirements to inform data product design.
• Design and deliver data products supporting strategic client reporting and analytics.
• Define and apply a robust framework for creating new data products versus enhancing existing ones.
• Produce and apply conceptual, logical and physical data models within an enterprise architecture.
• Collaborate with business, engineering and architecture teams to deliver scalable, governed data solutions.
• Promote data architecture best practices across the wider data platform.
• Communicate architectural decisions clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Skills & Experience
We're looking for candidates who can demonstrate:
• Proven experience working as a Data Architect within complex enterprise environments.
• Strong practical experience across conceptual, logical and physical data modelling—not just theoretical knowledge.
• Experience defining or contributing to data product strategy and governance.
• Excellent analytical, communication and stakeholder management skills.
• The ability to work independently within an established data platform with minimal supervision.
• A collaborative approach and the ability to bridge architecture with hands-on data engineering.
Desirable Experience
• Experience with Snowflake or other modern cloud data platforms.
• Exposure to Salesforce or similar customer-facing platforms.
• Experience using enterprise data modelling tools such as Erwin or equivalent.
• Background within regulated industries such as financial services, insurance or wealth management.
• Previous experience as a Senior Data Engineer with significant architectural responsibilities will also be considered.
