Description Data Architect- Remote (CST Preferred) Engagement: Contract-to-Hire (3-6 months with potential conversion) A growing organization in the insurance/reinsurance space is seeking a Data Architect to design and build a modern, scalable data platform leveraging Microsoft Fabric, Azure, and Snowflake. This is a high-impact role where you'll take ownership of the data architecture and help stabilize and optimize an evolving environment. You'll work closely with leadership and a lean, distributed team to build a strong foundation for analytics and reporting. We will not be accepting c2c/ third party candidates. What You'll Do Data Architecture & Platform Design • Design and implement a modern data lake / data warehouse architecture using Microsoft Fabric and Azure • Define scalable data models, storage structures, and governance standards for large datasets (millions+ records) • Establish secure data access, role-based permissions, and compliance controls Data Engineering & Pipelines • Build and optimize data pipelines for ingestion, transformation, and movement across Fabric/Azure environments • Develop and tune SQL queries for performance and scalability • Troubleshoot and resolve performance bottlenecks and query timeouts Workflow Automation & Enablement • Design and implement automated data workflows (ETL/ELT pipelines) • Create reusable frameworks/templates to support self-service capabilities for internal users • Focus on scalable platform solutions vs. one-off builds Reporting & Visualization • Enable downstream reporting via Power BI and/or Tableau • Structure datasets for efficient consumption and minimal latency • Partner with stakeholders to ensure reporting is reliable, performant, and scalable Performance Optimization • Identify system constraints and optimize compute, storage, and query performance within Microsoft Fabric • Ensure the platform scales with growing data volumes and user demand Requirements Required Experience • Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric and Azure • Expertise in data architecture and pipeline development • Advanced SQL skills (query performance tuning and transformations) • Experience with Power BI or similar BI/visualization tools • Experience with Snowflake and large-scale data environments • Background in insurance, reinsurance, or other high-risk industries • Experience building automated workflow and data frameworks • Exposure to integrating with external or proprietary systems Environment & Tools • Microsoft Fabric, Azure • Snowflake • Power BI / Tableau • SQL Technology Doesn't Change the World, People Do.
