Role: Data Business Intelligence Analyst Location: Houston, Texas(Hybrid 3-4 days in office) Experience: 10+ Years Duration: 6+ Months contract JOB DESCRIPTION: Data Business Intelligence Analyst (Please note this role is analytics and business facing, not a traditional data engineering or ETL focused role.) Role Overview (High Level) This position is a BI-heavy, business-facing role that supports day-to-day operational reporting and insights for the Retail organization. The role is not project-based and does not focus on large-scale data migrations, platform-to-platform work, or third-party data ingestion. The expected skill balance is approximately: β€’ 70% Business Intelligence / Analytics β€’ 30% Data Engineering What We Are Prioritizing Please prioritize candidates who demonstrate: β€’ Strong business intelligence and data analysis experience β€’ 4+ years of professional BI and analytics experience is critical β€’ Candidates lacking this depth will not be a fit β€’ Hands-on experience with visualization and reporting tools β€’ Tableau and/or Power BI β€’ Preference for 4+ years of dashboarding and reporting experience β€’ Business-facing experience β€’ Regular interaction with stakeholders β€’ Translating business questions into dashboards and insights β€’ Supporting operational and enterprise-driven changes (not long-term project work) β€’ Programming experience β€’ Hands-on experience with SAS, R, or Python is a must β€’ Industry experience (strongly preferred) β€’ Utility experience, particularly supporting marketing campaigns, customer data, and retail operations β€’ Candidates without utility experience may face a steep learning curve and are less likely to be successful Technology Expectations β€’ SQL: Required β€’ SAS / R / Python: Required β€’ Databricks & Google Cloud Platform: β€’ Experience is helpful, but less than 2 years is acceptable β€’ Candidates coming from a heavily IT-driven environment may not be a fit for this role Ideal Candidate Profile β€’ Has a strong BI and analytics background β€’ Is comfortable working directly with business partners β€’ Has supported utility or retail energy marketing initiatives β€’ Can quickly interpret business needs and adjust dashboards accordingly β€’ Is not seeking a deeply technical or engineering-only role What To Avoid Please avoid submitting candidates whose backgrounds are primarily focused on: β€’ Data migrations or moving data between platforms β€’ ETL-heavy or backend pipeline ownership β€’ Data model QA or third-party data ingestion workflows β€’ Infrastructure- or IT-centric roles with limited business interaction
