Data Engineer

Software Guidance & Assistance, Inc., (SGA), is searching for a Data Engineer for a contract assignment with a SaaS firm in San Jose, CA . We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Data Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing data-driven solutions that empower our organization to make informed decisions. Responsibilities: • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify business needs, provide insights, and translate requirements into technical solutions. • Analyze business and financial data to provide actionable recommendations for automation and process improvements. • Create and maintain dashboards and visualizations to effectively communicate data insights. • Support metrics development for key outcomes like customer retention, propensity to convert, and churn prediction. • Design, develop, and maintain data pipelines and workflows to support analytical and operational needs. • Develop and maintain sophisticated quantitative models to improve decision-making by analyzing historical data and conducting scenario analysis. Required Skills: • Proficiency in SQL and Programming Languages: Strong experience with SQL for querying and managing data, and expertise in Python or similar programming languages for data analysis and modeling. • Analytical Thinking: Demonstrated ability to approach complex problems methodically, analyze data critically, and deliver actionable insights. • Software Company (SaaS) experience is required. • Experience with Data Visualization Tools: Hands-on experience with tools like Tableau, Power BI, or equivalent for creating compelling and informative visualizations. • Experience with databricks / pipelines. • Experience with financial analytics or product analytics are required. (ie Anaplan, Netsuite, Essbase, Pendo, Google Analytics, Mixpanel etc) • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. • Strong understanding of statistical methods, hypothesis testing, and experimentation design.
