Role description
Data Engineer (Contract) – Asset Management / Financial / Actuarial Data Focus £450–£550 per day | Fully Remote (UK-based only) | 6-month initial contract We’re looking for a Contract Data Engineer with real-world experience working with financial, actuarial, or investment data — someone who can make sense of complex datasets and design data architectures that power real-time insights. If you’ve built or managed data pipelines in asset management, insurance, or trading environments — this is for you. What you’ll be doing • Designing, building, and maintaining ETL / ELT pipelines and data workflows • Managing data integration across multiple cloud environments (GCP / BigQuery ideal, AWS/Azure also relevant) • Building and optimising data models across financial products, portfolios, or actuarial datasets • Implementing data quality frameworks, version control (Git), and CI/CD for production promotion • Creating APIs and data services for real-time consumption • Supporting analytics and data science teams with clean, structured, and auditable data Key Skills • Python – strong scripting and data manipulation • SQL – expert-level across analytical workloads • ETL / Data Pipelines – building and automating processes end-to-end • Cloud Platforms – ideally GCP / BigQuery, but AWS or Azure experience also welcome • Financial / Actuarial / Asset Management Data – experience with investment, insurance, or trading datasets is essential We’d love to hear from you if you’ve: • Worked on financial data architectures or data platforms for investment or actuarial analysis • Migrated workflows from SSIS / Alteryx to modern cloud platforms • Delivered data models and insights that helped financial teams make better portfolio decisions AOB • Interview Process: 2 stages • Rate: £450–£500 per day (outside IR35 potential, depending on setup) • Location: Fully remote (must be UK-based) • Start: ASAP
