Data Engineer (Azure/Snowflake) Location: Hybrid Manchester (2-3 Days per week) Start Date: ASAP Outside IR35 Day Rate: £500-£550 per Day Duration: 6 Months A major UK retailer is undergoing a significant data transformation — building a modern, cloud-native platform to replace a fragmented legacy estate and deliver a trusted single source of truth across the business. This is a hands-on contract role where you'll be building pipelines, migrating data, and helping the business make confident, data-driven decisions at scale. What you'll be doing • Building and maintaining data pipelines on a Snowflake Medallion architecture (Bronze / Silver / Gold layers) • Migrating data off legacy SQL Server, SSRS, and Business Objects • Integrating from a range of source systems via REST APIs and JSON payloads • Working within a dbt transformation framework • Contributing to data quality monitoring and pipeline validation • Delivering in two-week agile sprints alongside BAs, integrations engineers, and QA What we're looking for • Strong hands-on Snowflake experience — Medallion architecture is a must • Proficiency in dbt and solid SQL/Python • Azure data infrastructure experience • Proven delivery in fast-paced, agile environments • UK right to work — no sponsorship available The stack: Snowflake · dbt · Azure One Lake · Power BI · Datadog · Python · SQL
