Job Profile Summary:
The Data Engineer designs and develops data pipelines (data ingestion and extract, transform, load processes) that are scalable, repeatable, and secure for stakeholder needs. Plays a key role in the department's data analytics by designing and implementing processes to inspect clean transform and model data to discover useful information, inform conclusions, and support decision making.
This position is considered intermediate level and performs work of moderate-complexity. The incumbent works under general supervision and may take direction from a more senior team member. This job does not have any direct reports.
Principal Duties And Responsibilities:
β’ Creates data management strategies to support business intelligence efforts for various stakeholders.
β’ Builds out data architecture to support data strategy.
β’ Performs the design of logical data model and implements the physical database structure.
β’ Ensures the quality, security, and reliability of data and analytics systems and software across the organization is being followed and troubleshoots any issues that may arise.
β’ Constructs and implements operational data stores and data marts.
β’ Provides support for deployed data applications and analytical models by being a trusted advisor to Data Scientists and other data consumers by identifying data problems and guiding issue resolution.
β’ Creates real-time and batch enable, transform, load (ETL) data processes aligned with business needs.
β’ Supports optimization of data pipelines by reducing complexity, improving readability and increasing performance.
β’ Builds technical requirements relative to their respective domain and applicable applications, solutions, and/or systems.
β’ Augments data pipelines from raw Online Transaction Processing (OLTP) databases to data solution structures.
β’ Performs design reviews regarding code, tables, and databases regarding the overall architecture of the data warehouse.
β’ Documents data flow diagrams, security access, data quality and data availability across all business systems.
β’ Develops and maintains a query library to support recurring data requests.

β’ Responsible for more complex activities associated with data analytics and may assist less experienced staff.
β’ Leads the development and refinement of analysis, reports, and dashboards of key department performance and risk indicators.
β’ Leads and may assist less experienced staff in visualizing and reporting data findings creatively in a variety of visual formats (i.e. reports, dashboards, etc) that meet business function needs.
β’ Leads and may assist less experienced staff in telling storiesβ with data for both technical and non-technical audiences that meet business function needs.
β’ Leads the research and analysis needed to respond to surveys and requests for information from key stakeholders.
β’ Leads and may assist less experienced staff in translating departmental scenarios and requirements into technical specifications.
β’ Identifies best practices and standards in data analysis and visualization and leads their implementation in the department.
β’ Influences strategy by either managing or facilitating district or System data analytics-related initiatives.
β’ Establishes and maintains effective relationships with business functions and other stakeholders to understand data analysis and visualization needs to ensure data strategies support business goals.
β’ Leads the development of training resources and delivers them to stakeholders.
β’ Leads the development of new processes, standards, and operational plans at the
