Azure Data Engineer
We are currently seeking an experienced Azure Data Engineer with a strong foundation in database architecture, SQL development, and Azure cloud services. The ideal candidate will be comfortable navigating complex permission structures, building scalable data solutions, and working across various Azure resourcesβnot just Synapse or Power BI.
This is a high-impact role within a growing data team, where your ability to troubleshoot, collaborate, and build secure, efficient data pipelines will directly support core business objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
β’ Design, maintain, and optimize data pipelines using Azure Data Factory, SQL, and Apache Spark.
β’ Troubleshoot and resolve Azure permission errors, especially those involving RBAC and managed identities.
β’ Navigate and leverage a variety of Azure services beyond Synapse and Power BI, including storage accounts, key vaults, and virtual networks.
β’ Write performant SQL queries, create temp tables, utilize CTEs (WITH AS), and develop stored procedures within Synapse or SQL databases.
β’ Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure secure and scalable data solutions.
β’ Utilize Python notebooks (e.g., Synapse, Databricks) for data transformation and analysis.
Required Skills & Experience:
β’ 4+ years of experience in a data engineering or data platform role with an Azure focus.
β’ Proven experience working with Azure Data Factory, managed identities, and Azure RBAC.
β’ Strong SQL development skills, including advanced query design and optimization.
β’ Basic proficiency with Python and familiarity with Apache Spark or Databricks notebooks.
β’ Solid understanding of database structures, schema design, and performance tuning.
β’ Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and resolve permission-related issues within Azure environments.
Nice-to-Have:
β’ Experience in securing and deploying Azure resources using Infrastructure-as-Code.
β’ Familiarity with enterprise security standards or working within regulated environments.
β’ Prior experience supporting BI initiatives and collaborating with data analysts.
