Role description
Sparta Global are hiring a team of 3 mid-level Data Engineers, to join on 12-Month Fixed-Term-Contracts, and work fully remotely within the UK.
Overview:
This role will suit someone with solid hands-on engineering experience who is comfortable working across cloud-based environments, modern data tooling, and open-source technologies.
You’ll work closely with analysts, software engineers, and stakeholders to help deliver reliable, high-quality data solutions that support operational and analytical use cases.
Key Responsibilities
• Design, build, and maintain scalable ETL/ELT data pipelines
• Develop and optimise data workflows within AWS cloud environments
• Work with structured and unstructured datasets from multiple source systems
• Build and maintain data models to support reporting, analytics, and downstream applications
• Ensure data quality, integrity, and governance standards are maintained
• Support the migration and integration of data between platforms and services
• Monitor and troubleshoot pipeline and platform performance issues
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering and product teams in Agile delivery environments
• Contribute to continuous improvement of engineering standards, tooling, and automation practices
Skills & Experience Required:
• Commercial experience as a Data Engineer or similar engineering-focused data role
• Strong SQL skills and experience working with relational databases
• Experience developing data pipelines using Python or similar programming languages
• Hands-on experience working within AWS environments, ideally with services such as S3, Lambda, Glue, Redshift, RDS, Athena, IAM
• Experience working with open-source data technologies and frameworks such as Apache Airflow, Spark, Kafka, dbt, Hadoop
• Experience working with APIs and data integration patterns
• Understanding of CI/CD, version control, and engineering best practices
• Experience working within Agile/Scrum delivery teams
