Lead Machine Learning Engineer (FTC with strong chance of going permanent, flexible working hours) London or UK Remote, £90,000 to £95,000 This is a high impact opportunity to step into a senior, hands on ML Engineering role where you will lead the productionisation of machine learning solutions while shaping how ML is delivered at scale. Offered initially as a fixed term contract, the role is viewed as part of the long term structure with a strong likelihood of becoming permanent. The technology function has a strong software engineering culture and is modernising its cloud and data platform to support advanced analytics and AI use cases. The Role • Lead the ML Engineering capability, taking ownership of end to end delivery • Design, build, and productionise scalable ML pipelines aligned to business priorities • Work closely with Data Scientists to deploy, monitor, and improve models in production • Own MLOps practices including deployment, monitoring, and model lifecycle management • Deliver NLP and LLM driven solutions, including fine tuning and integration into live systems • Contribute as a technical thought leader, setting best practice across ML engineering and data products • Support cloud migration and platform development within an Azure and Databricks environment Your Skills & Experience • Strong commercial experience as an ML Engineer with a software engineering background • Hands on experience delivering production ML systems end to end • Strong Python and SQL skills within cloud based environments • Experience working with Databricks and Azure • Practical experience with NLP and LLM use cases, including fine tuning • Good understanding of MLOps, CI/CD, and model monitoring • Comfortable collaborating with Data Scientists and engaging with non technical stakeholders What They Offer • £90,000 to £95,000 base salary • Fixed term contract with a high chance of conversion to permanent • Annual bonus and comprehensive benefits package • 35 hour working week with flexible start and finish times, including the option for a four day working week • Primarily remote working with occasional office attendance if required • A supportive, delivery focused environment with long term career progression How to Apply If you are a hands on ML Engineer looking to lead, scale, and productionise meaningful machine learning solutions, apply now for a confidential discussion.
