Job Title: Data Engineer / Data Steward
Location: Raritan, NJ (Hybrid – 3 days onsite)
Duration: 6+ Months Contract (Possible Extension / Conversion)
Employment Type: W2 Only (US Citizen / Green Card Holders)
Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented Data Engineer / Data Steward to support data governance, quality, and validation initiatives. The ideal candidate will have strong SQL expertise and hands-on experience with data lineage, cataloging, and cloud-based data platforms. This role focuses on ensuring data accuracy, integrity, and consistency across enterprise systems.
Key Responsibilities
• Perform data validation, profiling, and analysis using SQL
• Ensure data quality, integrity, and consistency across systems
• Work with data lineage, cataloging, and governance tools
• Support data cleansing and standardization initiatives
• Reverse engineer data flows and systems for better documentation and understanding
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve data issues
• Leverage AI tools for scripting, automation, and analysis
• Work within cloud and on-prem environments to manage data pipelines
Required Skills & Experience
• Strong hands-on experience with SQL (data validation & analysis)
• Experience with databases: Oracle, Teradata, SQL Server
• Exposure to AWS environments
• Familiarity with Azure and Databricks
• Experience with data governance tools (e.g., Alation, Purview)
• Strong understanding of data lineage, cataloging, and cleansing
• Ability to analyze and reverse-engineer data systems
• Focus on data accuracy and quality (not reporting/BI development)
• Bachelor’s Degree required
Nice to Have
• Exposure to cloud data platforms and modern data architecture
• Experience using AI-assisted tools for data engineering tasks
Important Notes
• Only Direct W2 candidates eligible (No C2C)
• Must be eligible for conversion (US Citizen / Green Card holders only)
