Job title: Data Engineer Role Type: Hybrid – 2 Days/Week Location: Cardiff, UK Duration: 6 months contract InsideIR35 The Role: Data Engineers with experience on Java and either Data flow or Apache Beam. Any cloud experience is fine Key responsibilities: Evaluating and comprehending data and information from diverse sources and producing innovative, high-quality solutions to problems that meet Business requirements and drive forward the department strategy. Complying with engineering, design and testing standards and practices, and with Admiral IT governance and architectural standards while performing in a heavily regulated environment. Acting on core engineering principles and values (accountability, transparency, consistency, quality, re-usability and an automate where possible attitude). Actively participating in Squad, Chapter and Guild ceremonies and activities. Working as part of a team, being a supportive team member with a positive attitude, engaging with and contributing to company culture and team spirit. Collaboration with all levels of seniority across IT and the wider Business. Key skills/knowledge/experience: Senior Data Engineer having extensive experience in GCP (Google Cloud Platform) data area or any Cloud experience. Creating effective technological solutions for work with big data. Hands-on experience with Python scripting. Hands-on experience on Java. Hands-on experience on Data Flow or Apache Beam. Deep understanding of data concepts primarily inclined towards ETL. Hands-on with ETL/DWH and SQL (any RDBMS) Hands-on experience with any DB should be able to read/understand/alter stored procedures. Proven knowledge of BigQuery. Having experience in Air flow Cloud Functions specialist. Data flow expert with good experience. Proven experience and ability to create best practices and policies to improve quality at program level. Strong problem-solving skills and managing multiple stakeholders. Excellent communication skills and should be able to manage client stakeholders. Analyze production data to identify areas of growth. Excellent data analyzing and review skills. Experience of working in an agile environment and participating in all agile ceremonies. Knowledge on Jira Desirable skills/knowledge/experience: Guidewire knowledge will be added advantage
