Role description
Splunk Engineer
We're working with a mission-driven Texas state agency undergoing a massive cloud modernization on this exciting opportunity.
As the primary Splunk expert on a high-impact security team, you will bridge the gap between SIEM engineering, AWS cloud security, and AI automation. This is a rare chance to integrate cutting-edge tools like Microsoft Copilot and natural language querying into a large-scale enterprise security ecosystem while protecting critical public sector infrastructure.
The Role
• Lead the design, build, and ownership of Splunk dashboards, correlation searches, and SIEM use cases in a complex security environment.
• Partner with Threat Hunters to automate detection techniques using Python scripting and orchestration tools.
• Architect and manage security controls for AWS environments, including CSPM, CWPP, and API security implementations.
• Secure AI/ML pipelines and model development environments, embedding security into MLOps and DevSecOps workflows.
• Drive executive reporting and forensic investigations, translating deep technical data into actionable insights for the CISO and CIO.
What You'll Need
• 8+ years of experience in Security Architecture and Senior-level Splunk Engineering (Data Ingest, Index Health, TTPs).
• Mastery of AWS Cloud Security, including hands-on experience with encryption, IAM, IDS/IPS, and multi-cloud architecture.
• Deep knowledge of Security Frameworks like NIST and ISO 27001 within a modern enterprise context.
• Proven ability to automate threat detection workflows and a desire to work with AI/ML security tools (e.g., Microsoft Copilot).
• Must be based in Texas (ideally near Austin) for occasional team collaboration and potential local hybrid conversion.
What's On Offer
• High-impact contract role ($75/hr) with strong potential for long-term extension or full-time conversion.
• Cutting-edge tech stack involving Cloud Security, AI automation, and advanced SIEM engineering.
• Fully remote flexibility within the state of Texas with a focus on work-life balance.
• Comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, and a 401(k) retirement plan.
