Role description
Iβm looking for a Data Engineer on a contract basis to join my clients growing data team and play a key role in delivering high-quality, trusted data solutions across the organisation.
Youβll design, build and maintain modern data pipelines and data products that power reporting, analytics and AI-driven insights. Alongside hands-on engineering, youβll contribute technical leadership on complex initiatives and help shape best practice across the function.
This is a great opportunity to work in a collaborative, forward-thinking environment where data is central
Its hybrid working from their Edinburgh City Centre office (typically 3 days a week) and its Inside IR35.
What Youβll Be Doing
β’ Designing, building and maintaining scalable data pipelines and data products
β’ Moving data from source systems into cloud-based data platforms and analytics environments
β’ Delivering solutions using CI/CD and modern engineering practices
β’ Providing technical ownership of pipelines, including monitoring, troubleshooting and optimisation
β’ Leading or contributing to migration and re-engineering projects
β’ Collaborating with stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions
β’ Ensuring solutions meet standards for security, quality, lineage and documentation
β’ Driving improvements in automation, testing, monitoring and alerting
β’ Supporting operational performance through reporting, incident management and continuous improvement
β’ Coaching and mentoring other engineers, promoting best practice across the team
What Weβre Looking For
β’ Strong experience designing and building data pipelines in a modern data stack - Microsoft
β’ Proven ability to work with large-scale datasets and data integration tools
β’ Experience with CI/CD pipelines, testing frameworks and automation
β’ Strong understanding of data engineering best practices, governance and standards
β’ Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues
β’ Excellent collaboration and stakeholder engagement skills
β’ A passion for continuous improvement and knowledge sharing
