Job Summary Seeking a highly experienced, hands-on technical data professional to design and implement a modern enterprise data lake and analytics platform for the Finance and Administration organization. This role will focus on building and delivering a consolidated data layer that integrates data from multiple systems and modernizes existing financial data analytics and reporting solutions. The current reporting ecosystem includes a range of Tableau dashboards and reporting solutions. The new data lake platform will provide a scalable, governed, and high-performance data foundation to support advanced analytics, standardized reporting, and self-service data access for downstream consuming teams. This role is ideal for a senior technologist who enjoys deep technical problem solving, hands-on development, and close collaboration with business partners, while contributing to architectural direction and best practices. location: Boston, Massachusetts job type: Contract salary: $70 - 75 per hour work hours: 8am to 5pm education: Bachelors Responsibilities • Design, build, and implement a cloud-based data lake and analytics platform supporting Finance and Administration use cases • Partner closely with finance stakeholders to understand reporting requirements and translate them into technical solutions • Develop and maintain data ingestion pipelines from multiple upstream systems, including finance, client services, and operational platforms • Perform hands-on development of data transformations, data models, and analytical datasets using SQL and modern ELT patterns • Build and optimize curated data layers to support reporting, analytics, and downstream consumption • Modernize existing Tableau-based reporting solutions by re-platforming datasets and improving performance, scalability, and data consistency • Implement data quality checks, data governance standards & compliance, and reconciliation processes to ensure accuracy and trust in financial data • Troubleshoot and resolve complex data, performance, and pipeline issues across the data platform • Contribute to platform standards, best practices, and reusable data patterns • Collaborate with infrastructure, security, and architecture teams to ensure solutions meet governance and compliance requirements Qualifications • 10-15 years of experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, or enterprise data platform development • Strong, hands-on expertise in advanced SQL (such as Oracle, MS SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or MySQL), including performance tuning and complex analytical queries • Demonstrated experience implementing data lakes or cloud data platforms, such as: Microsoft Fabric, Snowflake, AWS (S3, Glue, Athena, Redshift, Lambda), Azure Data Lake, Synapse, or equivalent platforms • Experience with AI technologies is a plus • Experience working with Agile methodologies, CI/CD tools (Jenkins or equivalent), version control (Git) and Orchestration tools • Experience operating in a DevOps environment with cloud technologies. Amazon Web Services is a plus. • Experience building end-to-end data pipelines, including ingestion, transformation, and consumption layers • Strong experience supporting business intelligence and analytics tools, such as Tableau, Power BI, or similar platforms • Solid understanding of data modeling techniques (dimensional, normalized, and analytical models) • Experience working with financial data domains (e.g., accounting, FP&A, budgeting, expense, headcount, or vendor data) • Ability to independently implement solutions from requirements through production deployment Equal Opportunity Employer: Race, Color, Religion, Sex, Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity, National Origin, Age, Genetic Information, Disability, Protected Veteran Status, or any other legally protected group status.
