Role description
Data Engineer (Contract to Hire): Stealth-Mode AI FinOps Platform
Overview
We’re building a multi-agent orchestration engine that unifies financial, HR, and operational data for healthcare organizations—automating insights, forecasts, and approvals in real time. Still in stealth, we move fast and need a contract Data Engineer who can wire up complex dataflows and keep them humming.
What You’ll Do
• Design, build, and maintain data pipelines that call external systems via SOAP and REST, landing clean, validated payloads
• Write Python transforms that normalize finance, payroll, and EHR data into our unified domain model
• Implement and manage workflow orchestration (dependency handling, scheduling, alerting) without vendor lock-in
• Optimize storage, partitioning, and querying for low-latency, high-concurrency agent access
• Collaborate with ML engineers on feature pipelines, schema evolution, and data-quality SLAs
• Embed security and compliance (HIPAA, SOC 2) principles in every deliverable
Skills & Experience
• 4+ years engineering data pipelines in Python
• Proven expertise with SOAP (WSDL) and REST: auth flows, pagination, retries, exponential back-off
• Strong grasp of orchestration concepts (scheduling, DAGs, idempotency, backfills) independent of specific products
• Solid understanding of cloud storage layers, event streams, and columnar formats (e.g., Parquet)
• SQL fluency for analytical debugging and rapid prototyping
• Nice to have: familiarity with finance or healthcare data domains, containerization, and infrastructure-as-code practices
Contract Details
• Start: Immediately
• Duration: 3–6 months (10–20 hrs/week to start)
• Overlap: Minimum 4 hrs overlap with U.S. Eastern Time
• Location: Remote (anywhere with reliable connectivity)
• Path: Option to extend or convert to full-time
Why Join Now
• Green-field architecture: your decisions set the standard
• Tight feedback loops with the founding team
• Direct impact on a product poised to reinvent manual finance ops
