Location: Remote (preferably sitting in MST or PST) . Must work in Alaskan hours. Cannot sit in Alabama, California, Hawaii, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, Wyoming, Washington, Washington DC, and Chicago.
Employment Type: 6-month contract-to-hire
Salary: $38-$55
Schedule: Remote Monday-Friday 8-5 AKDT

Insight Global is seeking a Data Engineer II to join our telecommunication client's team. This individual must sit in PST or MST time zones. This role supports the Data Platform team by building and optimizing scalable data pipelines, curated datasets, and analytics-ready models that power reporting, AI/ML, and natural‑language interfaces. This role blends data engineering and analytics engineering, ensuring data is transformed, accurate, and easily consumable for both internal teams and external customers. The engineer will help design data models, build GenieAI data spaces, and contribute to modernizing how the organization accesses and uses data.
Key Responsibilities
• Build, optimize, and maintain data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes across multiple telecom data sources.
• Curate, transform, and model data to support reporting, analytics, and natural‑language interfaces.
• Develop analytics-ready datasets using platforms like Databricks and GenieAI.
• Partner with analysts, data scientists, and business teams to deliver high‑quality, consumable data.
• Design data models and ensure accuracy and quality across curated datasets.
• Support AI/ML workflows and reduce dashboard dependency through improved semantic and curated data layers.
• Improve data reliability, performance, and scalability through continuous enhancement and innovation.
Must haves:
• Bachelors Degreee in Data Analytics/Science, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field
• 3-4 years of experience as a Data Engineer/Analyst
• Strong experience with Databricks.
• Proficiency in Python for data processing and automation.
• Solid data engineering skills, including ETL/ELT development.
• Experience with data modeling and designing curated datasets.
• Strong understanding of SQL and query optimization.
Plus:
• Experience with GenieAI/AI in general
• Telecommunication Industry experience
• Experience building semantic models in Power BI and/or Databricks.
