Data Engineer

Data/ETL Engineer Hybrid 4 days/week in Austin, TX Summary We are seeking a mid-level ETL Engineer to support a data management modernization initiative, focused on refactoring pipelines, cleaning raw and inconsistent data, and helping transition from a traditional Data Lake/Data Warehouse environment into Snowflake. This role is ideal for someone who is hands-on, detail-oriented, and comfortable working with imperfect schemas while building scalable, end-to-end data pipelines. About the Role This is a 3‑month contract (with potential to extend or convert) supporting a modernization project that requires strong ETL development skills, experience with Matillion, Snowflake, Tableau data modeling, and AWS. The position is onsite in Austin four days per week (one remote day), working closely with the CIO and cross-functional teams to improve data quality, rebuild pipelines, and support cloud migration efforts. Local candidates are strongly preferred. Responsibilities • Refactor existing ETL pipelines and improve data quality across multiple sources • Clean, standardize, and transform raw and inconsistent data • Redesign and optimize data models to support analytics and reporting • Build and maintain end-to-end pipelines using Matillion (extract, transform, load into Snowflake) • Develop data models that enable clean, performant Tableau reporting • Support the transition from Data Lake/Data Warehouse environments into Snowflake • Work with raw data and imperfect schemas in a fast-moving environment • Collaborate with technical leadership on cloud migration efforts Qualifications • 3+ years of professional experience in ETL or Data Engineering • Bachelor’s degree in a related field • Strong hands-on experience with Matillion ETL, Snowflake, Tableau, and AWS • Proven ability to build, optimize, and maintain end-to-end data pipelines • Experience working with raw, inconsistent, or incomplete data • Familiarity with cloud migration projects • Ability to work onsite in Austin four days per week (local candidates preferred) • Strong communication skills and ability to work directly with technical leadership The salary range for this position is 50/hr to 60/hr.
