Role description
A leading digital consulting firm is seeking a Freelance Data Engineer to join their team onsite in Atlanta. This role will focus on building and optimizing scalable data pipelines, supporting analytics initiatives, and collaborating closely with cross-functional teams across product, engineering, and business units. Key Responsibilities • Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL processes • Work with large, complex datasets to support reporting and analytics needs • Optimize and troubleshoot data workflows for performance and reliability • Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and engineers to deliver clean, usable datasets • Ensure data integrity, quality, and governance across systems • Write efficient, maintainable code and queries for data transformation Required Qualifications • Strong experience with SQL (advanced querying, optimization, data modeling) • Proficiency in Python for data engineering and scripting • Hands-on experience building ETL/ELT pipelines • Experience working with relational and/or cloud-based data warehouses • Strong understanding of data structures, data modeling, and database design • Ability to work onsite full-time in Atlanta Preferred Qualifications • Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, or Azure) • Familiarity with tools like Airflow, dbt, or similar workflow orchestration tools • Experience in a consulting or client-facing environment • Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally What You’ll Get • Opportunity to work with a high-performing digital consulting team • Exposure to enterprise-level data challenges and modern data stacks • Competitive hourly rate (negotiable based on experience) • Potential for contract extension based on performance
