Data Engineer II – Databricks Migration (Contract) Location: Arizona (Local Preferred) Duration: Contract through mid-2026 Role Overview Seeking a Data Engineer to own and drive an in-flight data platform migration from Talend to Databricks. This role is critical to maintaining data integrity, continuity, and reporting accuracy during a legacy system sunset scheduled for mid-2026. The ideal candidate is an experienced individual contributor who has led or significantly contributed to enterprise data migrations, brings deep Databricks expertise, and can operate with autonomy, sound judgment, and a problem-solving mindset. Key Responsibilities β€’ Take ownership of the ongoing migration of legacy Talend ETL workflows into Databricks-based pipelines β€’ Analyze existing data workflows and translate them into scalable, reliable Databricks solutions β€’ Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and parity throughout the migration process β€’ Troubleshoot and resolve pipeline issues to maintain operational stability β€’ Collaborate with data, application, and business stakeholders to align migration outcomes with reporting and analytics needs β€’ Document pipelines, processes, and operational runbooks to reduce single points of failure β€’ Serve as a technical leader by influenceβ€”providing guidance, making informed tradeoffs, and keeping the project moving forward Required Qualifications β€’ Proven experience supporting or leading data platform or ETL migrations in enterprise environments β€’ Strong hands-on experience with Databricks (PySpark, Spark SQL, Delta Lake, orchestration/workflows) β€’ Experience translating or modernizing legacy ETL workflows (Talend or similar tools strongly preferred) β€’ Solid background in data movement and transformation involving relational databases (SQL/Oracle or similar) β€’ Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot failures, identify root causes, and implement durable solutions β€’ Strong documentation and communication skills Preferred Qualifications β€’ Prior experience migrating from Talend to Databricks β€’ Familiarity with Azure data services (ADLS, ADF, DevOps pipelines) β€’ Experience working in healthcare, analytics, or regulated environments β€’ Local to Arizona (strongly preferred) What Success Looks Like β€’ Migration progress continues steadily toward the June 2026 deadline β€’ Data pipelines run reliably with minimal disruption to reporting or downstream systems β€’ Legacy workflows are accurately replicated and validated in Databricks β€’ Knowledge is documented and shared, reducing dependency on any single individual
