Role description

Data Engineer | Massachusetts (Remote-First) | 6-month Contract-to-Hire

Are you passionate about building modern data platforms that power real business insights?

Our client is a well-established, fast-growing company undergoing a full digital transformation, and we’re looking for a Data Engineer to help shape how data drives decisions from the ground up.

In this role, you’ll be part of a brand-new initiative to reimagine how data is collected, organized, and used across the business. You’ll work closely with both business and technical teams to build a cloud-first data infrastructure using the latest tools—Microsoft Fabric, OneLake, Azure Data Factory, and more.

This is a chance to make your mark. We’re not patching legacy systems, we’re building smart, scalable solutions that will power analytics, reporting, and automation across every function of the business.

Responsibilities

   • Design and build cloud-based data pipelines (streaming, batch, and real-time)

   • Develop and support a scalable data platform using Microsoft Fabric and OneLake

   • Connect data from multiple sources (ERP, CRM, internal systems) to deliver meaningful business insights

   • Optimize pipeline performance and automate routine data workflows

   • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand their data needs and deliver solutions that work

   • Help shape data standards, documentation, and governance practices

Requirements

   • 5+ years of hands-on data engineering experience

   • Strong skills in SQL, Azure, and data integration tools like Azure Data Factory

   • Familiarity with Microsoft Fabric, OneLake, and the broader Power Platform (Power BI, Automate, Dataverse)

   • Experience working with APIs and large, complex datasets

   • Exposure to ERP and CRM systems (SAP, Oracle, Dynamics, Salesforce) is a plus

   • Solid understanding of ETL/ELT processes, data modeling, and modern data warehousing concepts

Why This Role?

You'll be joining a stable, privately owned business that thinks like a startup when it comes to innovation. You’ll have the freedom to build, explore new tools, and drive real impact in a company that’s serious about becoming data-driven.
