Role description
Blue Chip Talent, in partnership with a technology-driven organization, is seeking a skilled Data Migration Engineer. This role is responsible for leading the migration of requirements and test management data from Jama Connect into a new requirements platform, ensuring full data fidelity, traceability, and system integrity. The ideal candidate will evaluate existing migration scripts and implement a scalable, high-accuracy migration framework.
Job Duties:
β’ Evaluate existing Python-based migration scripts and automation tools
β’ Determine whether to enhance the current codebase or develop a new migration framework
β’ Develop automation for data extraction, transformation, and ingestion processes
β’ Integrate with Jama Connect REST APIs and target system APIs to migrate complex datasets
β’ Migrate rich text, tables, file attachments, and structured requirement data
β’ Replicate complex parent-child hierarchies and maintain strict traceability mappings
β’ Manage full ETL lifecycle, including data preparation, transformation logic, and system loading
β’ Execute dry-run migrations and produce automated validation and data parity reports
β’ Develop and document a comprehensive migration runbook, including freeze windows and go-live strategy
Skills & Experience
Required:
β’ 3+ years of experience in data migration, systems integration, DevOps, or automation engineering
β’ High proficiency in Python or Java
β’ Strong experience working with REST APIs
β’ Hands-on experience with JSON and XML data structures
β’ Experience designing and executing ETL processes
β’ Proven ability to migrate hierarchical data structures and maintain relational integrity
β’ Experience building automated validation or reconciliation reporting
β’ Experience working with Jama Connect, including the Jama REST API and item relationship/traceability model
β’ Bachelorβs degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field
Desired:
β’ Experience working with requirements management systems beyond Jama
β’ Experience migrating rich text, embedded tables, and file attachments between systems
β’ Background in structured migration planning, including cutover and go-live execution
β’ Experience developing migration runbooks and structured documentation
