Summary:
Our retail client is embarking on a new transformational journey to modernize our HR and Financial management systems across all 5 of North American facia, centralizing and standardizing into a common set of tools for the group to leverage new efficiencies at scale.
As the Data Engineer, you will be joining the Workday Data Team, a new team that is tasked with delivering key foundational and historical data to our new enterprise Workday environment. As the program progresses, the team will iteratively consolidate data from different sources, refine, and deliver them to Workday. Another key responsibility of the team will be to extract appropriate historical data from Workday to be loaded into our Enterprise Data Warehouse.
The Data Engineer will need to have the ability to drive solutioning and deliver on the gathered business requirements. This person will work with the team to develop repeatable, automated pipelines that conform to high quality standards in an Agile environment.
Key Responsibilities and Tasks:
β’ Cleanse, join, prepare, and transform data from raw sources into models suited for analytics purposes.
β’ Prepare and stage historical data to be loaded into our Enterprise Finance Management system (Workday) in a repeatable and scalable approach.
β’ Build integrations with data sources to ingest data into the Enterprise Data Lake using various technologies.
β’ Leverage DataOps practices such as data test automation, automated quality checks, and automated deployment - to ensure high quality and improve time to delivery.
β’ Collaborate with the members of the Enterprise Data team and business stakeholders within the organization to ensure data needs are met.
β’ Support the end users of the data and analytics, responding to tickets and inquiries from business partners when data quality issues occur.
β’ Maintain data governance through documentation of data solutions, through data mapping documentation, Confluence documentation, or external tools.
β’ Advocate for best practices in a collaborative, team environment.
β’ Ensure data is timely and accurate.
Required Education and/or Experience
β’ Bachelorβs degree (B.A.) in Information Systems or other related field from a four-year college or university, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
β’ 2+ years of Data Engineering experience
β’ Experience working with Workday a plus
β’ Strong SQL skills
β’ Experience with cloud-based data warehouses, BigQuery a plus
β’ Data modeling skills and understanding of analytical data warehousing
β’ Understanding of data exploration, visualization, and BI tools such as Looker, Tableau, and Power BI
β’ Experience with data pipeline and workflow management tools such as Azkaban, Luigi, Airflow or other tools
β’ Experience with data processing using Python
β’ Experience with DBT a plus
β’ Working knowledge of source control using git
