Role description
Overview Our client is seeking a highly skilled Data Engineer to design, build, and maintain scalable data platforms that support analytics, reporting, and data-driven decision-making. This role will focus on developing cloud-native data solutions using Snowflake and Google Cloud Platform (GCP), while ensuring data quality, security, and regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate has strong experience working with large, complex datasets, modern ELT architectures, and financial data domains such as trading, risk, accounting, regulatory reporting, or client data. Responsibilities β€’ Design, build, and optimize scalable data pipelines using Snowflake and GCP-native services β€’ Develop and maintain ELT processes for ingesting data from internal systems, vendors, and external partners β€’ Model and structure data in Snowflake to support analytics, BI, and downstream data consumers β€’ Collaborate with data analysts, data scientists, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into robust data solutions β€’ Implement data quality checks, monitoring, and observability to ensure accuracy and reliability β€’ Optimize performance and cost across Snowflake and GCP environments β€’ Ensure data pipelines and storage comply with financial services regulatory and security requirements β€’ Support production operations, troubleshoot data issues, and continuously improve platform stability β€’ Contribute to data architecture standards, best practices, and documentation β€’ Participate in Agile delivery teams, including sprint planning, code reviews, and peer collaboration Qualifications β€’ Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent experience) β€’ 4+ years of experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role β€’ Strong hands-on experience with Snowflake (data modeling, performance tuning, security, and cost optimization) β€’ Experience building data pipelines on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) β€’ Proficiency in SQL and at least one programming language such as Python β€’ Experience with modern ELT tools and orchestration frameworks β€’ Solid understanding of data modeling concepts (dimensional, normalized, and analytical models) β€’ Experience working with Financial Services data, such as market data, transactions, positions, risk, accounting, or regulatory datasets β€’ Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment β€’ Experience with GCP services such as BigQuery, Cloud Storage, Dataflow, or Pub/Sub β€’ Familiarity with data governance, lineage, and metadata management tools β€’ Experience supporting regulatory or compliance-driven reporting (e.g., SOX, SEC, FINRA, GDPR) β€’ Exposure to BI tools (e.g., Looker, Tableau, Power BI) β€’ Experience working in Agile/Scrum delivery teams β€’ Prior experience in asset management, banking, fintech, insurance, or capital markets
