Role description
Job Title: Data Engineer – SQL Server & Azure Location: Hybrid (3 days in office, 2 days remote) Long-term contract Job Overview: As a Data Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining robust and scalable database solutions to support business operations. This role requires strong expertise in SQL Server, database modeling, database design, and performance optimization. You will collaborate across teams to translate complex business requirements into effective technical solutions. Additionally, you will work on database design from the ground up and leverage tools like SSIS to support various data-related processes. Key Responsibilities: • Design and implement modern data architectures including data lakes, lakehouses, and streaming data platforms using tools such as Azure Synapse, Databricks, or Snowflake. • Build and optimize data pipelines using Python, SQL, Spark, and orchestration tools like Airflow or Azure Data Factory. • Act as a hands-on SQL developer working on data ingestion (ADF), transformation, and integration workflows across structured and semi-structured sources. • Write and maintain robust, testable code (Python) for data processes and infrastructure (SQL stored procedures, Python scripts, infrastructure as code). • Partner with analytics and product teams to enable self-service data access, data modeling, and BI solutions (PowerBI). • Implement data governance, security, lineage, and compliance practices using tools like Azure Purview. • Support CI/CD practices for data solutions, including automated testing, deployment, and monitoring. Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. • Strong experience in SQL Server development and administration. • Proven experience designing and modeling relational databases from the ground up. • Proficiency in writing and optimizing complex SQL queries. • Experience using SSIS for database-related tasks. • Experience with Azure cloud platform for database solutions – Databricks, Synapse, Purview • Experience with database migration and integration projects. • Strong analytical thinking and attention to detail. • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
