Role description
Our client is seeking a Data Engineer to join their team. This role is based on-site at our client's location in Arlington, VA or Bellevue, WA.
Responsibilities:
β’ Design, implement and maintain data infrastructure including data modeling, ETL pipelines, and ongoing maintenance.
β’ Partner with various teams to build data pipelines from a wide variety of sources using AWS big data technologies (Lake Formation, Glue, S3, MWAA, Lambda, etc.).
β’ Build a data dictionary, catalog and governance plan and manage and audit all of the registered data via mechanisms.
β’ Work with data consumers to provide and correlate the right data for business intelligence and machine learning use-cases.
β’ Develop automated solutions to minimize manual processes with focus on efficiency and scalability.
β’ Provide guidance on data stewardship for teams onboarding to the central data systems.
Requirements:
β’ 5+ years of experience in data engineering
β’ Experience engineering, administering and managing multiple relational database flavors (e.g. Oracle, MySQL, SQLServer, PostgreSQL)
β’ Experience with large-scale data analytics and data warehousing
β’ Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in high-pressure situations
β’ Understanding of overall system architecture, scalability, reliability, and performance in a database environment
β’ Experience working directly with customers, resolving database, systems and infrastructure-related issues and also providing systems architecture leadership
β’ 3+ years experience with AWS technologies like Redshift, S3, AWS Glue, EMR, Kinesis, FireHose, Lambda, and IAM roles and permissions
β’ Ideal candidate would have one or more of the following certifications:
β’ AWS Certified SysOps Administrator Assoc.
β’ AWS Certified Developer Assoc.
β’ AWS Certified Solutions Architect Assoc.
β’ AWS Certified Data Engineer Assoc.
β’ AWS Certified Machine Learning Engineer Assoc.
β’ Experience analyzing issues holistically, from the application tier through the database, down to the infrastructure
β’ Working knowledge of at least one scripting language (shell, Python, Perl).
β’ Experience with non-relational databases / data stores (object storage, document or key-value stores, graph databases, column-family databases)
β’ Proven experience as a Data Engineer with a track record of building data solutions from the ground up
β’ Coding skills in the procedural language for at least one database engine a must (PL/SQL, T-SQL, redshift SQL, Postgres SQL etc.)
