Job Role: Data Engineer (ETL Focused)

Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Data Engineer with strong expertise in ETL development and data pipeline orchestration. This role will focus on processing large volumes of data from diverse file-based sources, transforming them efficiently, and managing secure storage across cloud and traditional databases. The ideal candidate should bring a solid background in ETL tools, cloud services, and relational databases, along with a passion for delivering reliable, production-ready data systems.
Key Responsibilities:
β’ Ingest, parse, and transform large-scale structured and semi-structured data from file-based sources
β’ Build and maintain robust ETL pipelines, ensuring accurate and efficient data delivery to downstream systems
β’ Design and implement data transformations using tools like Ab Initio (or similar) and SQL.
β’ Work with cloud-based platforms and services including S3, Lambda, EMR, and Redshift.
β’ Support data storage solutions using both cloud (Redshift) and traditional (Oracle) databases
β’ Troubleshoot and resolve production data issues, including participation in on-call rotations when necessary
β’ Collaborate with team leads and developers to align data flow processes with evolving business needs
β’ Participate in solution design and whiteboarding sessions to address complex data engineering challenges
Required Qualifications:
β’ 5β6 years of solid experience as a Data Engineer, with a strong focus on ETL development
β’ Proven hands-on experience with ETL tools, preferably Ab Initio
β’ Strong knowledge of SQL, data modeling, and data transformation techniques
β’ Practical understanding of AWS services such as S3, Lambda, EMR, and Redshift
β’ Experience with Oracle databases and handling large-scale datasets
β’ Ability to work independently and take ownership of data pipeline design and maintenance
β’ Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
β’ Excellent verbal communication and design articulation during technical discussions
Preferred Qualifications:
β’ Experience or familiarity with scripting in Python or Java to support cloud integrations
β’ Domain knowledge in financial services, especially in secondary mortgage markets
β’ AWS Certifications or equivalent cloud/data engineering credentials are a strong plus
β’ Ability to understand business domain logic and translate it into technical implementation
