Role description
Summary
The Data Engineer will support enterprise financial reporting platforms during a Cloud modernization initiative. The position focuses on building and maintaining reliable data pipelines, optimizing SQL Server environments, and ensuring high-quality data delivery for reporting and analytics teams.
Responsibilities
• Design, develop, and test data solutions based on business requirements.
• Analyze data sourcing needs and define transformation and mapping logic.
• Build and support ETL and ELT pipelines for enterprise data integration.
• Configure and maintain data integration frameworks used by internal teams.
• Create and maintain technical documentation aligned with SDLC standards.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve data pipeline and database issues.
• Support operational activities including incidents, service requests, and planned maintenance.
• Follow formal change management processes for data and system updates.
• Identify and implement technical and process improvements.
• Design and maintain scalable data pipelines using SQL Server and SSIS.
• Tune databases through indexing, query optimization, and performance monitoring.
Requirements
• 3–5 years of experience in data engineering, development, or systems support.
• Experience with relational database environments (SQL), preferably Microsoft SQL Server.
• Experience developing ETL or ELT solutions using SSIS or similar tools.
• Experience with object-oriented programming or scripting languages (e.g., JavaScript).
• Exposure to Cloud platforms including AWS or comparable services.
• Experience working across technical and business teams.
• Knowledge of database design standards, DevOps practices, and data pipeline operations.
• Strong communication skills with a focus on accountability and data confidentiality.
This is a remote 12+ month Contract opportunity with our Kansas-based client. Employee benefits include Medical/Dental Benefits, Paid time off, Paid Holidays, and 401(k). H1-B Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. No third-parties, please.
