Data Engineer (Contract – Hybrid, Greater Fox Valley Area, WI)

We’re partnering with a mission-driven organization in the greater Fox Valley, Wisconsin area that’s using data to drive meaningful community impact. They’re seeking a Data Engineer to help transform complex community datasets into actionable insights that inform decisions and improve lives.
This is a long-term contract position offering flexibility (32–40 hours per week), hybrid work, and the chance to be part of something being built from the ground up. You’ll work primarily remotely, but should be local and available for in-person meetings as needed across Calumet, Outagamie, and Winnebago Counties.
What You’ll Do
• Build and maintain ETL pipelines that bring data together from multiple community and public sources.
• Clean, normalize, and structure data using Python, SQL, and Excel.
• Validate data accuracy and document your transformation work clearly.
• Collaborate with local partners to make data more accessible and meaningful.
• Support the development of community data governance and transparency practices.
What You Bring
• Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, Public Health, or related field.
• 2–4 years of experience in data transformation or integration.
• Hands-on proficiency in Python, SQL, and Excel.
• Experience working with APIs, flat files, and diverse data sources.
• Strong attention to detail, documentation, and communication.
• A self-directed mindset — comfortable balancing autonomy and collaboration.
• Residency within the Fox Valley area (Calumet, Outagamie, or Winnebago Counties).
It’s a Plus If You Have
• Experience with public health, education, or nonprofit data.
• Familiarity with data visualization tools or cloud environments (AWS preferred).
• Curiosity around AI-driven automation and data governance.
