Role description
Position: Data Engineer
Location: Remote
Duration: 12 month contract + extensions
Pay: $63/hr.
Responsibilities:
β’ Migrate dbt models from Redshift and Snowflake to Trino (Iceberg), ensuring compatibility and performance
β’ Refactor and optimize SQL models to align with modern data modeling best practices
β’ Translate SQL syntax across platforms (Redshift/Snowflake β Trino)
β’ Manage version control for dbt models using Git
β’ Partner with analytics and engineering teams to validate model accuracy during migration
β’ Support Tableau assets by ensuring data sources align with the new infrastructure
β’ Work with dashboard/workbook owners to test and validate downstream impacts
β’ Participate in daily standups and collaborate on migration priorities
Required Qualifications:
β’ Bachelorβs degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, or related field (or equivalent experience)
β’ 2+ years of experience in data engineering, analytics, or BI roles
β’ 1+ year of experience in financial services, FinTech, or SaaS environments
β’ Hands-on experience with dbt and modern data modeling practices
β’ Strong experience with Git for version control
β’ Advanced SQL skills across multiple dialects (Redshift, Snowflake, Trino)
β’ Experience working with BI tools such as Tableau
Preferred Qualifications:
β’ Experience working in startup or high-growth environments
β’ Experience supporting data platform migrations or transformations
β’ Familiarity with Apache Iceberg or lakehouse architectures
