Location: Cleveland, OH (Hybrid- 3 days onsite) Employment Type: W2 Only Overview: We are seeking a detail-oriented and collaborative Data Engineer with 4+ years of experience to support data-driven initiatives across the organization. This role requires strong SQL expertise, experience working with Oracle or SQL Server databases, and the ability to analyze and troubleshoot existing code. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working cross-functionally with business and technical teams, gathering requirements, and providing consistent communication and follow-up. A proactive mindset, strong documentation habits, and the ability to adapt to evolving priorities are key to success in this role. Responsibilities:
Collaborate with business partners to gather and clarify requirements.
Analyze, understand, and troubleshoot existing code and data processes.
Provide regular updates, status reports, and follow-through on stakeholder requests.
Work across teams and levels of the organization with professionalism and clarity.
Technical Skills:
Strong SQL skills, including:
DDL (Data Definition Language – creating database objects)
DML (Data Manipulation Language – querying and updating data)
Experience with SQL Developer and Toad.
Proficiency in Oracle for database queries; SQL Server experience also acceptable.
Familiarity with ETL processes and data pipeline concepts.
Basic understanding of data modeling, query optimization, and data integrity principles.
Preferred Skills:
Experience with the Empower originations system is a plus.
Exposure to data warehousing or reporting tools is beneficial.
Ability to work in Agile or iterative development environments.
Soft Skills:
Excellent communication skills across all levels of the business.
Strong follow-up and stakeholder engagement.
Highly detail-oriented with strong organizational and documentation skills.
Comfortable working independently and within cross-functional teams.
