Title: Data Engineer Job Type: Contract Contract Length: 1 year Pay Range: $58-63/hr Start Date: ASAP Location: Remote (PST) About The Opportunity Our client, a leader in FinTech/SaaS, is looking for a skilled Data Engineer to join their team for a 1-year engagement. This project involves supporting the migration of dbt models from Redshift and Snowflake to Trino (Iceberg) while ensuring compatibility, performance, and best practices in their evolving infrastructure. This is a high-impact role that requires a self-motivated professional who can hit the ground running and deliver results quickly. Key Responsibilities & Deliverables This role is focused on the successful completion of specific tasks and deliverables. Your responsibilities will include: β€’ Fixing and translating SQL syntax from Redshift and Snowflake to Trino Syntax in dbt models. β€’ Refactoring and optimizing data models, ensuring they align with best practices for Iceberg. β€’ Collaborating with analytics teams and workbook owners to validate and test the impact of migration work on Tableau assets. β€’ Managing version control for dbt models via Git and engaging in daily standups to execute migration priorities efficiently. β€’ Collaborating with engineering and analytics teams to ensure seamless model transitions and maintain quality data standards. Required Skills & Experience: We are looking for someone with a proven track record of successful contract engagements. The ideal candidate will have: β€’ 2+ years of experience in a data engineering, BI, or analytics role. β€’ Deep expertise in SQL with experience in multiple syntaxes (Redshift, Snowflake, and Trino), and a deep understanding of dbt, including model development, macros, and Jinja templating. This isn't a learning roleβ€”you need to be a subject matter expert. β€’ Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and manage your own time effectively to meet project goals. β€’ Experience with version controlling via Git (a must), BI tools such as Tableau, and experience working in financial services or SaaS companies. β€’ Strong communication skills to provide clear and concise status updates to the project team, particularly in guiding stakeholders through infrastructure changes.
