Data Engineering Manager

RED is currently supporting a client who is looking for an experienced Data Engineering Manager to lead the delivery and development of a modern AWS-based data platform. The initial contract is 6 Months, with a high chance of extension. You'll need to be on-site in London three days per week for the duration. This role will suit someone who can combine team leadership, technical oversight, stakeholder engagement, and delivery ownership across a complex data environment. You will be responsible for leading Data Engineers in building and optimising cloud-native data pipelines, analytics-ready datasets, and scalable AWS data solutions, while ensuring the platform is secure, resilient, and cost-effective. Key responsibilities include: • Leading and managing a team of Data Engineers • Overseeing the design, build, and optimisation of AWS-based data pipelines • Driving best practice across engineering, testing, CI/CD, monitoring, and documentation • Working closely with Data Architects, Product Owners, Analysts, and business stakeholders • Supporting the ongoing evolution of a modern cloud-based data platform • Championing data quality, governance, security, and operational excellence • Managing delivery timelines, technical standards, and team performance Key experience required: • Proven experience in a Data Engineering Manager, Lead Data Engineer, or similar leadership role • Strong background delivering modern AWS-based data platforms • Strong experience with AWS services such as S3, Glue, Lambda, Redshift, Athena, EMR, IAM, CloudWatch, and Step Functions • Strong SQL and Python skills • Experience building and managing ETL/ELT pipelines in cloud environments • Strong understanding of data warehousing, data modelling, and data platform design • Experience driving engineering best practice across CI/CD, testing, deployment, and observability • Strong stakeholder management and team leadership experience • Experience working in Agile or hybrid delivery environments • Background in regulated environments such as financial services, insurance, or public sector If this interests you, please send me an up-to-date CV, and we can discuss the role in more detail.
