About the Role
The Data Focused BSA/Product Owner serves as the critical bridge between business stakeholders and our Azure platform and Databricks engineering teams. This role combines deep business analysis skills with hands-on familiarity with modern cloud data platforms, enabling the organization to successfully migrate legacy data workloads and adopt next-generation Azure + Databricks capabilities. The ideal candidate is equally comfortable facilitating a stakeholder workshop, writing precise user stories, and walking through a data flow diagram with an engineering team.
Responsibilities
• Act as the primary liaison between business stakeholders, Azure platform engineers, Databricks engineers, and governance teams.
• Communicate progress, risks, and decisions to leadership and project sponsors.
• Provide documentation, training, and enablement to help teams adopt new Azure + Databricks workflows and capabilities.
• Conduct current-state analysis of SQL Server databases, SSIS/SSRS workloads, and legacy ETL pipelines to determine migration scope and modernization opportunities.
• Document business processes, data flows, data definitions, and system interactions across both legacy and Azure target architectures.
• Translate business needs into functional and non-functional requirements for Azure Databricks, ADLS, ADF, and related services.
• Facilitate workshops and stakeholder interviews to validate requirements, clarify assumptions, and align expectations.
Qualifications
• Experience as a Product Owner, Business Systems Analyst, or hybrid role in data-centric environments.
• Strong understanding of Azure data services, including Azure Databricks, ADLS Gen2, Azure Data Factory, and Azure SQL.
• Familiarity with Delta Lake, distributed compute concepts, and modern ELT/ETL patterns.
• Experience analyzing and migrating workloads from Microsoft SQL Server.
• Ability to write clear user stories, acceptance criteria, process flows, and system documentation.
• Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills.
• Experience working in Agile delivery environments.
