Role description
Job Summary Our client is seeking a Data Governance Analyst V to support enterprise data stewardship efforts under the direction of Business Data Stewards. In this role, you will execute defined stewardship work across metadata management, data quality, and remediation planning, while collaborating closely with Technical Stewards and System Owners to validate lineage and system behavior. You will be expected to provide business context for datasets, support audit and control readiness, and proactively escalate risks that could impact data maturity goals. This is a remote position, with onsite presence required only when absolutely necessary. Core Responsibilities β€’ Execute defined stewardship work under the direction of Business Data Stewards (matrixed roles to this effort) β€’ Define and maintain metadata, including business definitions, attributes, and standards β€’ Review and validate data profiling results to assess data quality and consistency β€’ Identify data quality issues and perform root cause analysis β€’ Plan for and execute approved remediation activities once identified issues are validated β€’ Provide business usage context for datasets, including insights on creation, consumption, and dependencies β€’ Support Planning-for-Control readiness by ensuring required metadata, rules, and checks are complete and accurate β€’ Collaborate with Technical Stewards and System Owners to validate data lineage and system behavior β€’ Escalate risks or gaps that could prevent datasets from achieving required maturity β€’ Partner across matrixed stewardship roles to ensure alignment on governance priorities and standards Required Skills/Experience (Must-Haves) β€’ 5+ years of experience in data governance, data stewardship, or related data management roles β€’ Strong understanding of metadata management practices, including business definitions, attributes, and data standards β€’ Experience reviewing and interpreting data profiling results to identify quality issues β€’ Demonstrated ability to perform root cause analysis on data quality issues and support remediation planning β€’ Familiarity with data lineage concepts and validating system behavior in collaboration with technical teams β€’ Understanding of audit/control readiness requirements, including metadata, rules, and checks documentation β€’ Comfortable working within matrixed organizational structures involving multiple stakeholder roles β€’ Strong written and verbal communication skills to support cross-functional collaboration with Business Data Stewards, Technical Stewards, and System Owners β€’ Ability to clearly identify, document, and escalate risks or governance gaps to appropriate stakeholders β€’ Comfortable operating with a degree of autonomy while following direction from Business Data Stewards Preferred Skills/Experience (Nice-to-Haves) β€’ Experience working within large, regulated enterprise environments β€’ Familiarity with data governance tools and metadata management platforms β€’ Background supporting compliance, audit, or control readiness initiatives β€’ Experience in utility, energy, or similarly regulated industries Key Competencies & Behaviors β€’ Attention to Detail β€’ Collaborative Partnership β€’ Proactive Risk Management Work Environment β€’ Location:Β Oakland and San Francisco bay area β€’ Remote Compensation & Benefits β€’ Pay Range: The approximate pay range for this position is between $70.00 and $90.00.
