Data Governance Analyst
6-Month Contract-to-Hire
Location: REMOTE (EST/CST preferred)
Pay: $40-54/hr (Compensation can vary depending on experience)
General Overview
The Data Governance Analyst plays a key role in managing and improving enterprise data governance initiatives. This position ensures data quality, compliance, and consistency across systems while bridging communication between technical teams and business stakeholders. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator, data-driven thinker, and advocate for continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
• Lead data governance and stewardship initiatives to align data standards with business objectives.
• Collaborate with IT, business units, and compliance teams to define and enforce governance frameworks.
• Facilitate user groups, councils, and governance meetings to drive alignment and accountability.
• Develop and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models.
• Monitor data quality, perform error analysis, and support issue resolution.
• Manage metadata and reference data, ensuring accuracy and accessibility across systems.
• Support regulatory compliance efforts (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA) and ensure adherence to policy.
• Provide insights through data analytics, dashboards, and performance reporting.
Requirements
• Experience with Metadata is required
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to present findings and influence stakeholders.
• 3+ years with the following Technical Skills:
• Proficiency in SQL and BI tools (Power BI, Tableau).
• Experience with data cataloging tools (Collibra, Informatica) and metadata management.
• Strong data modeling capabilities (conceptual, logical, physical).
• Domain Knowledge:
• Understanding of accounting/finance data structures and reporting standards.
• Familiarity with insurance processes such as policy, claims, and underwriting.
• Knowledge of data privacy laws, stewardship, lineage tracking, and governance frameworks.
• Ability to identify trends, anomalies, and actionable insights in complex datasets.
• Candidates with a background in insurance, financial, or policy knowledge is preferred.
