Role: Data Governance Analyst
Duration: 06 months
Location: 100% Remote
Job Overview:
The Analytics Governance Analyst plays a critical role in advancing our enterprise-wide analytics governance strategy, with a specific focus on metadata management. This role ensures that data assets are well-documented, consistently defined, and easily discoverable across the organization. The analyst will collaborate closely with data stewards, product owners, and analytics teams to maintain high standards of data clarity, usability, and trust.
This position requires strong communication skills, a deep understanding of data governance principles, and the ability to present metric definitions and metadata standards to the Analytics Governance Council. Familiarity with modern data cataloging and analytics tools is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
• Own and manage metadata documentation, including table and column descriptions, across enterprise data platforms.
• Generate, present, and explain metric definitions and metadata standards to the Analytics Governance Council and other stakeholder groups.
• Collaborate with data owners and stewards to ensure consistency and accuracy of business definitions and data lineage.
• Support the implementation and maintenance of the Advanced Analytics Governance Framework.
• Partner with analytics teams to ensure that governed metrics are aligned with business objectives and are consistently applied across dashboards and reports.
• Maintain and enhance metadata repositories using tools such as Databricks Unity Catalog and Metric Insights.
• Promote the adoption of AI tools (e.g., copilots) that leverage metadata and prompt engineering to improve data discovery and usage.
• Act as a liaison between technical teams and business stakeholders to ensure metadata is understandable and actionable.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of governance processes, standards, and documentation practices.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor s degree in Information Systems, Data Science, Business Analytics, or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience in data governance, metadata management, or data cataloging.
• Strong understanding of data modeling, data lineage, and business glossary concepts.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts into business-friendly language.
• Experience working with stakeholders across business and technical domains.
• Familiarity with Databricks Unity Catalog, Metric Insights, or similar metadata/cataloging tools.
• Experience with AI tools that use prompting (e.g., copilots) is a plus.
• Knowledge of healthcare data and analytics is required.
• Experience with Epic and other EHRs is required.
